About the Centre for Cappadocian Studies...

"Stegi Politismou" , the cultural association of Nea Karvali, in its search of ways to unite the forces of all the Cappadocian clubs in Hellas, has created the Centre for Cappadocian Studies, whose aim is to search for and collect evidence of the Cappadocaian civillization, as well as to show it to whole world so that the creative spirit of Cappadocia survives and flourishes in today' societies.

In 1985 Stegi Politismou of Nea Karvali founded the Centre for Cappadocian Studies and created and manned the Historical Archive of Cappadocia aiming to collect remants of memory, documents, photographs, books, restaments of local costums, songs and drama to maintain, to study and to showcase these in their integritry, so as to preserve in record and to continue the civilization of Cappadocians.
On Septermber 13, 1997, with the generous support of the Ministry of National Economy trough the INTERREG II programme, Stegi Politismou of Nea Karvali inaugurated the rebuilt refugee home of 1925 in which the Historical Archive of Cappadocia is housed.
Here the resercher and the scholar are able to find those elements that link the past to the present, to trace the course of Cappadocians from the depths of Anatolia to Greece, to read the rate "Karamanlidika" books, to listen to the wind blowing through the gorges at Ihlara and Peristerma.

The Historical Archive of Cappadocia, together with the Historical and Ethnological Museum of Cappadocian Greeks, operating since March 26, 1995, are an intergal part of the Cappadocian homeland, which will live forever radiating its culture.
